2nd Grade studied traditional papel amate from Mexico to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
Which Witch?
Students read the book "The Curious Little Witch" and drew mysterious witches from the waist down. We then painted them with various pattern and designs.
Keith Haring Figures
We studied the artist Keith Haring and learned how to draw figures and create movement with lines
Pattern and Color Turkeys
Students created colorful turkeys using various art elements and principles including pattern and lines!
Winter Portraits
In celebration of our winter musical, students created collaged paper portraits of themselves as carolers
Ming Vases
To celebrate Chinese New Year, students studied vases from the Ming Dynasty. They created vases and then scratched their designs into the paint. We added some cherry blossoms for an additional pop!
100th Day of School POrtrait
Students continued their study of portraiture, this time focusing on proportions of the face. They then altered their portraits to depict them when they were 100 years old to celebrate the 100th day of school!
